Our performers' testimonials say it better than we ever could...
there's only one...
I've known Patrick for a few years now, first as a fellow musician, and then as a student. There's really no other way to say it, the man is a phenomenal vocal coach! His humility will not allow him to agree with that statement, but it's nonetheless true. The strength of his guidance, the depth of his knowledge, the joy for his students' accomplishments all come from the same place: his passion and love for the power of music and how it relates to the human experience. There are a lot of people out there who make a living giving voice lessons, but there's only one Patrick Cunningham. Once you start working with him, you'll discover how important a true "vocal coach" really is!
you've changed my life...
Three years ago my daughter approached me and asked "Pod" (Her nickname for me : )) Would you sing a duet with me? Please understand that at this time my daughter was already an accomplished vocalist and musician and had an ear for the tiniest imperfections in the human voice. But, not wanting to disappoint her, I agreed. "So what's the song I asked". The song is Agnus Dei. And It's sung mostly in Latin with a little English. (Click on the link to take a listen) After I heard it, I'm thinking... Really! You've gotta be kidding! I was thinking more along the lines of a cool version of row row row your boat!
So while she's standing there looking at me waiting for a reply, I kinda, under my breath said, well, Ooooooooo-kay honey! I don't know Latin but I'm willing to learn. And that's a really beautiful song with some really beautiful voices, like yours, I said! With no hesitation or doubt in her voice she says, "Don't worry Pod, Patrick will train you!" I'm thinking Patrick must be a miracle worker!
Before coming to Az Music Project, I remember feeling uneasy and hesitant about my vocal ability. Looking back, the progress I have made now is incredible, all thanks to Patrick. Working with him has improved not only my technique and performance, but my confidence. He encourages me to reach beyond what I think is possible and dig deep, all the while at a comfortable pace. I am so grateful for the opportunities I have received through Patrick and the instruments and tools that are available to strengthen myself as an artist. The environment at AZMP is incredibly fun and comfortable. I'll forever be thankful for Patrick and Bonnie for inspiring and guiding me through my passion!
